Country of Origin: Australia
Distribution: As the Miniature Australian Bulldog is still very much in its infancy; it remains rare in Australia.
Etymology: The Miniature Australian Bulldog takes its name from the fact that it is being developed as a smaller version of the Australian Bulldog.
Other Names: No other names.
Breed Status and History: The Miniature Australian Bulldog is a work in progress begun by Mrs. Pip Nobes and Mrs. Lee-ann Milton. Their goal is to create a smaller version of the Australian Bulldog.
Wanting to avoid the health concerns found with the English Bulldog, and not wishing to start from scratch creating a healthy bulldog, it was decided that it would be best to use full-sized Australian Bulldogs crossed with the Pug and Bouledogue Français. Using the Boston Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier was considered, but both of these breeds were rejected because of their temperaments.
At this current time, more Australian Bulldog blood has been used than would have been preferred. This has been done to correct the size of the ears and the shape of the tail, as well as to add additional colors. Future breedings will focus on retaining these characteristics while reducing size.

Appearance: The Miniature Australian Bulldog resembles its full sized relative in all ways except for size. The height of both sexes should not exceed 13.98 inches (35.5 cm) tall. The weight is not specified but it should be in proportion to the size.
Personality and Uses: The Miniature Australian Bulldog possesses much the same temperament as its larger brethren, with perhaps one exception: they have much more energy, particularly the females, than the laid back full-sized Australian Bulldog. As a whole the Miniature Australian Bulldog gets along well with other dogs.
